I was dragged into the Old White Hart last night for a Christmas social and meal. The food was very nice as it happens, albeit in micro-portions, but I was disappointed to find the single hand pump on the bar standing redundant. I asked the young chap behind the bar if he sold anything resembling beer and, fair do’s, he pointed to the ‘Bass Smooth’ font. I politely declined and opted for a bottle of Tyskie.
I didn’t even realise that a ‘smooth’ form of Bass was produced. What a shame to see a beer that was once the best known brand in the world reduced to this.
