Next Wednesday (16th June) sees the Fox & Crown hosting a Batemans brewery night. The following Wednesday (23rd) it is Everards turn to be showcased.
The beer menu for the Newark Beer Festival, held on Riverside Park, 28th – 30th May, is now available. A stonking lineup this year that already has beer buffs from all over the country salivating over their ticking lists. Castle Rock are investing around £600,000 to treble their output capacity, currently running at 110 Barrels per week, by doubling the size of the brewery. Story appears on the BBC News website.

The Malt Shovel will be holding a St Georges day ale day on Friday 23rd April featuring many appropriatly named beers, including Crusader, Lions Pride, Bombadier, Hook 303AD to name but a few. Two of the beers will be on sale at £2 a pint, there is free Yorkshire pud with beef & gravy in to all customers. In the evening there is live entertainment with a Madness tribute band.
Hopefully Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild will be making an appearance during Mild in May at the Fox & Crown-watch this space for updates Also Ruperts War Dog, brewed by Ufford exclusively for the Prince Rupert, a quaffable copper bitter mmmmmm its very nice!!
The Malt Shovel’s cask ale week was a great success with 24 casks sold. Well done to Shawn and Kimberley and everyone that supported the pub.
Just returned from Mons in Belgium-weekend of music and loads of belgium beers, found two bars in the central square (Grand Place) almost next door to each other one with 150 different beers the other with a mere 100, a destination to be recommended
