Meeting point is The Hearty Goodfellow, Southwell at 11am where we can have liquid refreshment before commencing the first leg across fields to the Wagon and Horses at Halam. Following a visit and a pint the 2nd leg is to The Old Reindeer at Edingley. Saturday March 19th 2011 saw this year’s Newark CAMRA pub of the year presentation at the Prince Rupert. Landlord Tony was certainly emotional during his acceptance speech! To celebrate, five real ales and house wines were offered at £2 until 5pm and to soak it all up, pizzas were distributed on a regular basis. The recent fund-raiser in the Fox, in memory of Russ Speed who sadly passed away at the age of 36 totalled nearly £1500 and still counting. Vodaphone have agreed to match the amount raised. The evening consisted of a raffle for various Nottingham Forest goodies, a silent auction and live music, all in all a brilliant result. Thanks must go to Danni, Rachel and Simon at the F&C. A plaque to Russ’ memory now adorns the bar.
