Sadly this year’s Newark Beer Festival is taking place without festival stalwart Nigel Brown, who passed away last October. Nigel worked tirelessly along-side myself, backstage and behind the scenes for many years. His life-long interest in rock music made him a familiar face around the local music scene, his infectious enthusiasm rubbing off on many that came into contact with him. The bi-annual LocAle and Weinfest, held in the Castle grounds, comes round again this year on 17th – 19th June. Organised by the Town Council, this event showcases 7 wine growers from Breisgau and around 20 LocAles sourced from within a radius of 20 miles from the venue. The Newark Beer Festival is almost upon us again. This years, the 16th, runs from Fri 27th – Sun 29th May (Fri-Sun). Approx 160 beers plus ciders, perry and country wines. There is a daily quiz and full entertainment proramme except friday afternoon, designated quiet session. Food avaiable at all times.
