There will be another CAMRAmble on Saturday, August 18th, this time to Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. Departure is by coach from the Wharf at 8am, returning to Newark for about 10pm. The ramble is approximately a 9 mile circular walk and includes generous beer breaks! Just Beer Micropub in Newark, winners of CAMRA Nottinghamshire Pub of the Year ward, have their presentation this coming Saturday, 7th July. Celebrations start at 1.30 and the 4 Tapsters have promised some great beers to suit the occasion, including two from brand-new breweries. There will also be a free buffet to soak up the beer.
The 4th York Beer Festival is being held at the Knavesmire racecourse area on 19 – 22 Sep. Marquees open from 12 noon. A 49 seater coach has been booked for Saturday 22 Sep for all those interested in sampling the delights. There are only four places left on the bus for next Thursday’s (26th) brewery visit to Oldershaws in Grantham. The bus will leave from outside Just Beer at 6.30pm and arrive at Oldershaw’s for 7pm, where we will spend a couple of hours sampling, accompanied by some nibbles. A visit to Oldershaw Brewery has been arranged for the evening of Thursday 19th April from 7pm for a couple of hours. The minibus will pick up at Just Beer Micropub at approximately 6.30pm. The minibus cost will be £6.00 per head (payable on the evening please). This is based on a maximum of 15 persons. Saturday 18th February saw the presentation to this year’s Newark CAMRA Pub of the Year winner, Just Beer Micropub. A buffet of sandwiches, nibbles and a specially made pork pie donated by Porters of Bridge Street, was provided to soak up the good ale on offer; Five beers were on the bar, all priced at £2 per pint between 1 and 5 o’clock.
