CAMRA NEWARK IPA TRAIL 2014 – THE BEER LIST

Welcome to the Newark CAMRA IPA Trail 2014. Below are some of the beers you can expect to sample on your travels.
The list is as up to date as possible but is subject to change. If you are travelling to sample a particular beer we advise you check on its availability by contacting the pub. The pubs appear in no particular order.

THE FINAL WHISTLE, SOUTHWELL

Oldershaw – American Quadhop IPA 5.5%

A fresh and lively IPA with 4 all-American hops delicately intertwined to create a unique flavour profile with intense character. Boasting sharp citrus and herbal notes, this light-amber ale is backed with a warm, toasted malt base and late hopped for a distinct orange aroma and crisp finish.

Rudgate – IPA 5%

Initially bittersweet, well-balanced complex fruit. Hints of citrus and a bitter, hoppy finish

Raw – Grey Ghost IPA 5.9%

Powerful American hopped IPA with citrus and grapefruit flavours. Smooth and deceptively easy to drink (the Landlord’s favourite).

THE CHEQUERS, ELSTON

A pale refreshing yet smooth brew

THE ORGAN GRINDER , NEWARK

A Very British Ape 5.9%

100 % British Malts with heaps of British cascade, target and admiral hops. Brewed to a respectful 5.9% then recklessly dry hopped again to showcase our very first 100% British beer.

Ape Ale 5.4%

A pale, strong ale. A complex and sophisticated IPA, using assertive American hops. Aromas of resinous pine, orange and just the right level of citrussiness. A dry finish and moderate bitterness make this deceptively quaffable for its 5.4%, so take care!

Pontefract Ape 5.5%

A return of the Newark Beer Festival favourite with a hint of aniseed and liquorice

THE ROSE AND CROWN, BALDERTON

Mordue – Pandamonium 5.5%

Brewed in the style of a classic Californian IPA, Pandamonium is bright and vibrant with plenty of that classic grapefruit kick and smooth resiny pine.

Hopstuff – Renegade 5.6%

Renegade is Hopstuff’s flagship IPA. Made with the finest Maris Otter malt, blended with Citra, Cascade & a little “Summit” else on the hop front.

THE FLYING CIRCUS, NEWARK

Thornbridge – Jaipur 5.9%

A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

St Austell – Proper Job 4.5%

Proper Job is an authentic IPA brewed with Cornish spring water and a single malt made from Cornish grown Maris Otter Pale barley

Oldershaw – American Hop Quad 5.5%

A fresh and lively IPA with 4 all-American hops delicately intertwined to create a unique flavour profile with intense character. Boasting sharp citrus and herbal notes, this light-amber ale is backed with a warm, toasted malt base and late hopped for a distinct orange aroma and crisp finish.

THE FOX AND CROWN, NEWARK

Thornbridge – Jaipur 5.9%

A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Harbour  – India Pale Ale 5%

A modern interpretation of the British classic with pronounced American hop aromas. This golden ale has citrus characters and robust yet balanced bitterness.

Castle Rock  – Screech Owl 5.5%

Brewed to export strength this strong well hopped India Pale Ale has become a firm favourite with followers of the style.

THE GREY HORSE, COLLINGHAM

Thornbridge – Jaipur 5.9%

A citrus dominated India Pale Ale, its immediate impression is soft and smooth yet builds to a crescendo of massive hoppiness accentuated by honey. An enduring, bitter finish.

Kelham Island – Pale Rider 5.2%

A legendary premium pale ale forged from the finest Maris Otter malt and a special blend of American hops. The nose is of fresh citrus and berry fruits with a smooth juicy malt character and deceptively moreish finish that belies its strength.

THE CASTLE BARGE, NEWARK

Full Mash – Bhisti IPA 6.2%

Very drinkable but with a warming kick of bitterness to remind you “it’s a hot one”.

THE CASTLE AND FALCON, NEWARK

Dukeries  – IPA 4.9%

Easy drinking, hoppy

THE ROARING MEG, NEWARK

Pheasantry – Dancing Dragonfly 5%
A refreshing, blonde, summer ale with low to medium bitterness and medium sweetness. The blend of galaxy, summit and cascade hops gives this ale citrus and exotic fruit flavours.

Cross Bay – Zenith 5%.
Zenith is a reasonably strong IPA, which is light and refreshing in colour with a distinct tropical aroma. Zesty fruit flavours are followed by a hefty kick from the triple blend of hops, which makes this ale particularly special.

Slightly Foxed – Bengal Fox 5.2%
A bright golden colour from Maris Otter malt, Bengal Fox is brewed using some of the fabulous New Zealand hops: the pine and citrus flavours of Green Bullet, layered with grape and vanilla flavours and aromas from Nelson Sav and Hallertau Aroma hops.

(PROVISIONAL) 4T’s – Face the Hops 5.5%
A cross hopped IPA, masses of American hops added throughout and just for a little extra Aussie hops are added dry into the cask, refreshing fruit flavours from this IPA.

BRAMLEY APPLE, SOUTHWELL

Red Squirrel – Redwood American IPA 5.4%

Golden orange, complex hoppy aromas, floral notes, long finish

Slightly Foxed – Bengal Fox 5.2%

A bright golden colour from Maris Otter malt, Bengal Fox is brewed using some of the fabulous New Zealand hops: the pine and citrus flavours of Green Bullet, layered with grape and vanilla flavours and aromas from Nelson Sav and Hallertau Aroma hops.

OLD COACH HOUSE, SOUTHWELL

Dukeries – IPA 4.9%
Easy drinking, hoppy

Oakham – Green Devil 6%

An amazing hop harvest aroma with tropical fruit bursting through. Smooth and fruity starting with passion fruit, pineapple, and mango developing into lemon, limes and a citrusy bitterness. Finishes with a crisp refreshing dry aftertaste.

THE PRINCE RUPERT, NEWARK

Navigation – Classic IPA 5.2%
Our classic IPA is a healthy straw colour with powerful citrus fruit balanced with malty sweetness and robust bitter flavours. It packs a bit of a punch so steady as she goes!

Three Tuns – Cleric’s Cure 5.0%
A light-tan beer presenting medium malty-sweetness with powerful, spicy, floral bitterness and hop character designed to re-create the iconic style of India Pale Ales of the 19th. Century.

Liverpool Craft – IPA 5.0%
A strong hoppy Indian Pale Ale made with Columbus hops.

Sonnet 43 – American Pale 5.4%
A complex aroma using premium Cascade, Simcoe, Centennial and Mount Hood hops with a malty, spiced fruit flavour

Harbour – IPA 5.0%
