Your intrepid reporters have just returned from a guided tour of the soon-to-open Newark Brewery.
The old maltings on William Street have most of the original features intact and is a magnificent housing for the brewery, which will be the first brewery in Newark since the closure of the Maple Leaf (Winthorpe Road, now demolished) brew pub plant in 1986. First beers should start appearing by the end of July.
Thanks to brewery owners Will McKeon and Dan Derry for the tour. Hopefully Will will be giving a short talk at this Thursday’s (3rd May) branch meeting at the Vine on Barnbygate. All the more reason to attend!
