I’ve just had the privilege of having the first pint to be drawn from the bar of the Prince Rupert (one of the perks of being a reporter). It was Abbeydale Absolution(5.3%).
Other beers ready on the bar were: Maypole Flannagan’s Extra Stout (4.5%), Ufford Golden Drop (4.3%), Lancaster Amber (3.7%) and Adnams Gunhill (4.0%). Also on hand pump, Weston’s Vintage Organic cider at 7.3%.
I was then given a quick tour around the pub and I must say the refurb is nothing less than STUNNING. The Rupert will no doubt become a very popular hostelry. Good luck to managers Tony and Heidi Yale and congratulations to Mike Thurlby and his team on delivering such a splendid place to the people of Newark.
The Prince Rupert opens on March 17th.
